Accendo wellness has been a long standing dream of mine, I consider myself a dedicated professional with a genuine passion for providing care that combines clinically researched interventions with a validating, compassionate, and Humanistic approache. My journey in the field of counseling psychology has been enriched by diverse experiences, exceptional education, and a commitment to empowering individuals through their unique life paths.

My educational background includes a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Addiction from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in LGBTQ+ Psychology from DePaul University. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and previously Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), I bring a robust foundation of knowledge and expertise to my practice.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with various populations, from teens to adults, of various cultural backgrounds and needs, addressing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, Men’s issues, crisis, psychosis, mood disorders, and substance use. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, encompassing Existential, Humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing techniques, ensuring a holistic and individualized experience. I also enjoy sharing a nerdy personal passion for incorporating, ‘cinema therapy’ as a modality for exploration of existential themes and struggles in life.

My commitment to compassionate care has previously extended beyond private practice. Involving settings such as community mental health, crisis services, intensive outpatient programming, partial hospitalization programming, and inpatient settings. These experiences have provided me with insights that allow me to both be a resource to other clinical colleagues and help those in need of care. I am passionate about promoting mental health awareness and have been fortunate to provide trainings for clinical staff and other professionals on working effectively with LGBTQ+ clients.

In all my endeavors, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and validating environment for my clients, embracing their unique stories and experiences. My goal is to empower individuals to navigate life’s challenges and find meaning and purpose amidst the complexities of the human experience. If you are seeking a counselor who combines evidence-based practices, genuine compassion, and direct personal challenges I am here to support you on your journey to wellness and growth.

Thank you for visiting my profile, and I look forward to working with you to achieve your personal and therapeutic goals.

FAQ (Frequently asked questions)

What is your business background?

After gaining experience in various mental health settings and spending a year in private practice with another agency, I have decided to establish my own solo practice. This decision follows the closure of the agency I worked for. While I’m currently a one-person team, I’m considering the possibility of small expansion in the future.

Who is part of your team?

I am a one-person team, handling all aspects of the practice myself.

Who is your target audience?

I specialize in assisting individuals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use, LGBTQ-related concerns, life transitions, general mental health issues, grief, and loss. I have extensive experience working with transgender clients and can provide “letters of readiness” for those seeking gender-affirming care. While I primarily focus on men and men’s issues, I also work with individuals of all genders. I have recently been concentrating on building a connection with the gay male population.

What type of clients do you work best with?

I am particularly drawn to clients seeking a philosophical approach to therapy. Those experiencing existential life crises, questioning their self-worth and life’s meaning, and aiming to gain deeper insights into themselves are my ideal clients. I also enjoy working with individuals navigating significant life transitions, such as high school to college or college to the “real world.”

Where are you located?

My office is situated in Naperville, IL, just 40 minutes outside of Chicago. The address is 1555 Naperville Wheaton Rd, Suite 205, Naperville, IL, 60563. While in-person sessions are mainly available for those in the DuPage County area, I also offer telehealth services to residents throughout Illinois. It’s important to note that I am currently licensed to practice only in the state of Illinois.

What services does your business offer?

I provide individual one-on-one therapy sessions, both in-person and through telehealth.

What sets your business apart?

While I am licensed for general mental health (LCPC), I am also credentialed for substance use treatment (CADC). My educational background includes a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and an undergraduate degree in LGBTQ Psychology. I bring a wealth of experience from diverse settings, including inpatient hospitalization, nonprofit agencies, community mental health clinics, government agencies, crisis services, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and HIV/STD counseling services.

What past projects have you been involved in?

I have engaged in speaking events and provided services to hospital staff and community mental health agencies, focusing on effective approaches when working with LGBTQ populations.
